🧬 What Is Speros?
Speros is a groundbreaking life sciences, cancer research, and medical innovation campus being developed by Moffitt Cancer Center in Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Importantly, it represents one of the largest biotech and health-care innovation projects in the Southeastern United States. The name Speros comes from the Latin verb “sperare,” meaning “to hope.” Because of that meaning, the name reflects Moffitt’s long-standing mission to bring hope to patients while accelerating scientific discovery.
After years of planning, the project was publicly introduced in late 2022. Shortly afterward, in early 2023, ground was broken on roughly 775 acres adjacent to the master-planned Angeline community. As a result, Speros now stands as the largest expansion in Moffitt’s history.

Speros matters not only because of its size, but also because of its long-term impact. First, plans call for up to 140 buildings and approximately 16 million square feet of development over time.
